Sunrise Reflection.

This was also captured from the ambulance bay at work on Christmas morning.

Merry Christmas Everyone.

This is the Christmas morning sunrise from the Ambulance bay at work. Yes, I'm on night shift at the moment! sigh.......

Bridge Shadows.

I've found it quite difficult to capture a reasonable shot of these shadows, this is the best I could do!

Cat Food Ants.

The Neighbours' Cat.

He really is beautiful, and so photogenic......

Reefton Station.

I love all the old railway stations around the country in NZ, this lovely one was at Reefton in the Sth Isalnd.

West Coast Weather.

This was as we left Greymouth, on the west coast of the Sth Island, early one morning. It's fairly typical to have dull, cold, wet, misty days there.

Web Abstract.

This was meant to be of just the morning dew on a spiders' web, but with the letterbox and red bush in the background, I think it makes a great abstract.

An Old Shed.

With a great sky! This is out in the back blocks from here somewhere.

Thursday, 29 November 2007

Lilly Bee.

Yes, another bee I'm afraid! I've not been able to get out and about much recently due to work.

Kathryns' Family Tree.

I have returned many times to this old tree to see about photographing it, I didn't realise how difficult it would be. Landscape photography is obviously an art in itself.

Head On.

This is a bee on a rose petal.

Back-Lit Lily.

The evening sun lighting the lily.

Saturday, 3 November 2007

Baby Kookaburra.

We came across this little fella in the middle of a busy highway in the Northern Territory, so we stopped to put it back in the trees at the side of the road.

A Splash of Colour...

and yes, another Ladybug!

Take Off.

I'm quite delighted to have captured this bumble bee taking off from the lavender bush.

Inside Out.

This time the neighbours cat is peeking around the door from inside the house!

Kaka.

Tuatara.

This lovely creature was captured inside, in a heated tank.

Click on the words highlighted in blue. This is a link that will take you to a site with more information about Tuataras.

Another Daisy.

This daisy looks as if it's suspended in mid air, but if you look closely you can see the stem.
We're having days and days of gales at present and it's making it difficult to photograph anything!

Same Ladybugs......

This was taken on a very windy day and the camera is handheld.

Thursday, 18 October 2007

A Northern Territory Sunset.

This is a photo from my time in the Aboriginal Communities. I'm using it now so I can dream of the warmth, the beauty and the wonderful times.

Our Weather.

You're right....... more rain, this time on the clothesline!

Another Sign of Spring....

A privacy invasion? Yes! It was another windy day, so I had to peg the rose frond to another plant to try and keep it still, only to find I had trouble catching the ladybugs. They certainly don't stand still, they can cover quite a distance.... among other things!

Friday, 5 October 2007

Grubby Critter.

This fly was watching the spider at work. I was amazed to see how hairy flies are and the particles of ?pollen/dirt caught in the hairs.

The Quick and the Dead.

Once again, the neigbours' cactus plant. I managed to get a series of shots of this spider catching, binding and stashing this fly.

Tuesday, 2 October 2007

Ladybug.

The neighbours' cactii harbour all sorts of wildlife. I had to use the fill in flash for this shot, hence the reflections, it was a rather dull day weather wise.

Finally......

Managed to capture this fella, I've been trying for days!

Saturday, 29 September 2007

The Red Shed.

I really do like some of the rural scenes in NZ, especially where there are red barns involved.

Donated Daffodil.

One of my bosses kindly gave me some of her daffodils she'd grown. This was photographed inside, in a vase that I placed in the little bit of sunshine for the day, then rotated the photo 90 degs.

A New Day.

More Blossom.

I decided it was time to add a little colour to the page.

Does This Wig Suit Me?

A Charalais...... I think.

Couldn't Decide...

Which of these cow shots I like, so have put both in. Overall, I think I prefer this one with the clouds in the background.

We're Watching....

Monarch Wing.

This is a brand new Monarch butterfly wing, you can see the remains of the chrysalis to the left.

A Moth.

I have no idea what type of moth this is, but I did spend some time following it around the garden waiting for it to settle more than two seconds.
update:
Cinnabar Moth Tyria jacobaeae LOrder : Lepidoptera Family: Arctiidae
Thanks to Marc of Townsville Qld for the research!

Last Month's Moon.

This is my attempt at capturing the moon, and yes, I did use a tripod for this. I'm not sure whether the red band on the left side of the moon is from the sun going down, or that is just how it looks from here.

Anyone There?

This fella is the neighbours beautiful tabby cat, waiting so patiently for a chicken snack.

Sunday, 26 August 2007

New Look Daffodil.

I was asked to try and capture a different looking daffodil, not the standard shot. So, I've gone for a "softer" look. I quite like the effect.

Yeeha! Spring!

The first blossom! I'm not sure whether this is apple blossom, guess I'll have to wait and see.

Friday, 24 August 2007

Tulip.

This is what a tulip looks like one day after buying them for my mate! The petals drooped.

Hothouse flowers........

Saturday, 18 August 2007

Shed Reflection.

If you look closely at the droplet at the end of the rose leaf, you will see the reflection of the neighbours shed and some of the old tree. Bearing in mind, the camera is hand held, it was a dull, drizzly day, with a breeze........ is this an excuse by me for it looking slightly out of focus, or have all of the above, created a ripple effect on the leaf?

Sunday, 12 August 2007

Palm Island, Queensland.

This is a photo I took some years ago as the sun went down over the outer Islands of Palm Island in Northern Queensland. I had a very small film camera then and have had to scan this to disc, sadly, some of the quality has been lost.

Northern Territory Sunset.

This photo, as are all my photos, was hand held, so it may look a little out of focus, or is it just the distance from the subject?

Tuesday, 7 August 2007

Daisy Bug.

I thought it was time to have something a little brighter. This one is from the archives, as I haven't been out with the camera much lately.
