Magpie Moth.

There's a lot of wildlife on the daisies at present. I've not seen one of these before, but I do like it's feathery antennae.
Thank you for the id Oswald.

It's a magpie moth- comes from those fuzzy black caterpillars that eat ragwort.

Beautiful place, there. My brother visited NZ a few years ago, but I never made it there.

Beautiful.
I'm Verja, Jungle Mom's daughter. I really love your photos. I like to take pictures, but I'm not nearly as great as you.
In fact, most of my pictures are hand-held. So, I'm inexperienced. But I just wanted to say that every picture of yours that I have seen is absolutely gorgeous!
Even simple things! How do you do it?

Thank you so much Verja, and welcome!

All (except 2 moon shots) are hand held, I have a tripod, but generally forget to take it with me, or, with the insect shots I don't have time to set it up.
I use the macro setting, and go through heaps of batteries, this new camera fortunately has a rechargeable battery!
Verja, it takes time, patience, practice, and if you have a digital camera, don't be afraid to take heaps of shots of the subject from different distances or positions. I have had no formal training in photography or with the camera, I just see things and capture them.
If I can be of any help to you, please email me at the addy on my site. Thank you once again.

Welcome Hermit. NZ is a beautiful place, spoilt only by the political scene.

Thank you for taking the time to encourage my youngest. She is very much into photography now and I think she may have an eye for it.

My pleasure jm. Photography is very therapeutic and teaches you heaps about patience and perseverance, if there's anything else I can do to help, just holler.
