Alfie Update.....

We were woken at 0100 by Boyd yowling his head off, which was a bit strange since we thought he was the cat on the bed, only to find it was Alfie all snuggled up. He wasn't in great shape, so a very early dash to the vet, where he is now being x rayed and treated for trauma to his leg/hip and infection. Boy, are we so happy he's back........

UPDATE:
I've just returned from visiting Alfie, he's heaps better, more like his old self, except for his shaved belly! We could bring him home tomorrow, but we'd have to keep him caged for a week, as he's not allowed to jump. Neither of us are able to keep him caged up, so he'll stay in the holiday camp for the week, he'll have a heated cell and fed three times a day......

Wonderful news Gecko, been praying on and off for his return, i know how much you love your boys. Funny thing, now that i think about it, i didn't ask for him to come back unscathed, so i can't complain to the Lord.

{Hey you never said anything about bringing him back unscathed.}

Glad to hear it, best let him know that he had people on at least 3 continents worrying for his safe return. Keep us posted on his recovery.

Thanks a heap MK, we're so delighted he's back, it was the not knowing that was killing. We'll go all out to get him sorted, it's worth it, he's such a delightful, fun, gentle fella. We'll certainly keep everyone updated, we're chuffed so many care :)

Hope he checks out OK. At the least, sounds like he's going to need an extended period of R&R - something cats are experts at.

Thank you Zen :) Alfie will have to become an expert! If they don't do a hip replacement, then he'll have 3 wks of rest! Not sure how we'll achieve that, he's KG's right hand man when there are jobs to be done, like helping to build the side verandah and pruning trees etc.
We're just delighted he's back, he's such great company and a lot of fun.

Yeah, great to hear he's doing better now. From what KG said, i wonder what happened to him.

MK, Vet said it looks the car hit & ran over part of his back end. He's got extensive bruising on his abdomen, the base of his tail is damaged, but should repair in time, and the damage to his right hip. I think he was a very lucky lad!!

Can you put up a sign near your corner, like "Slow - Children, Ducks, Cats"

Surely, most people will slow for one of those items?

Maybe get a speed hump installed?

Alternatively, put up a fake speed camera and a couple of signs "Police Training Area, please go slow"

How about a sudden change in a cat ? Our mate Stanley, who's 11 1/2, is now always insatiably hungry, yet still fussy and demanding. He'll leave food that's distasteful to him although will raise the roof for more of what he likes. Is this just cantankerous age related, or do you think something may be amiss. (He gets his regular wormings and flea treatments.)

Lol Zen! I do like the idea of the sign. We'll have to add deer to the list now, apparently one was seen wandering up the road this morning.

I'd go for cantankerous age related, Ayrdale--Gecko tells me I'm somewhat the same. ;-)

Sounds like there could be something else going on Ayrdale, seeing he has regular worming and flea treatments. Animals can get much the same disorders as humans, diabetes, thyroid, etc, or could be that he's just simply spoilt rotten, lol ;-)

Poor fellow, run over by a car, glad to hear he's on the mend Gecko.

MK, he's doing really well and may be able to come home next weekend, quite exciting!
