Another Kookaburra.

This fella was a lot closer than the last one and I didn't have to use the tele lens.

These birds are real characters. If you have the time, and may I add, the patience, you can make friends with these birds, as you can with Magpies. All they require is steady approaches at the same time of each day with maybe a crumb or two of food to hold their attention. If you can keep them occupied for a short time each day, and if you say to them a set speech, such as 'hello' or something simple like that, you may be rewarded with them saying it back to you.

Aussie birds are great fun!

They're not in our yard very often at all, but will be tempting them with some meat strips when they do! We're busy taming some Currawongs at present, and have really enjoyed watching the young become more independent. I never realised how interesting birds were.

Are they noisy?

Surprisingly no MK. There's a family of three and we only hear them occasionally, which is a shame, as I quite like the sound.

"Kookaburra sits on the old gum tree" goes the song.

Well, on the "old clothesline" isn't quite so authentic, but maybe the old gum tree was full up with Koalas that day...
